Customer Review: Great blender

This blender does its job very well. I can drop frozen fruit, ice, and fruit juice to make a smoothie indistinguishable from smoothie shops. Although the manual says that the blender isn't designed to crush ice, I've had no problems with adding uncrushed ice to whatever I'm blending.
The driveshaft/clutch from the motor to the blades is made of a hard rubber material. I've had no slippage problems and no damage after 3 months of blending. In comparison, my Braun MX2050 (rated #1 by Consumer Reports - one of their worst recommendations ever) snapped its cheap plastic teeth within the first month of use.
This blender is built very sturdily (the motor is heavy and massive) and spare parts are cheap and easy to come by. The clutch, usually the first part of the blender to wear out, costs $2 - $5 to replace. The blades costs around $10 to replace.
My only problem with the blender so far is the fact that you can't unscrew the bottom of the stainless steel jar without a wrench. This makes cleaning the area behind the blades difficult. However, the manual's recommended method of putting cleaning solution into the jar and blending for 2 minutes seems to work fine.
Note: The 919 model comes with a 2-speed + pulse option and a 32 oz stainless steel jar. Hamilton Beach also sells the 908, 909, and 918 models which have polycarbonate jars (908, 918) or lack the pulse option (908, 909). As far as I can tell, the motor, driveshaft/clutch, and blades are the same on all 4 models.
