Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 62695V Power Deluxe Hand MixerCustomer Review: GREAT MIXER for hand mixer type jobs! Summary: 5 Stars
NOTE MODEL NUMBER CHANGE: While Amazon lists this as a 62695V, the model that we are seeing in stores is the 62695D. The V model is listed on Amazon as 225 watts. The D model that we have purchased is 275 watts.
GENERAL COMMENTS: This is a great mixer for our purposes. I find that when a hand mixer dies, it is generally because the user is trying to mix something better suited for a commercial dough mixer rather than a lightweight, relatively low-powered appliance. It's important to consider that there is a good reason why they sell heavy stand mixers with 500 watt, gear reduced motors.
LOW SPEED PERFORMANCE: I read the reviews before I bought this product. I was concerned about the number of people who complained about the lowest speed not being low enough. Low speed is now a feature that Hamilton Beach advertises on the box. So it's possible that this mixer has been redesigned. The low speed on ours is sufficiently slow enough so that splashing hasn't been an issue.
BEATERS: The mixer as noted comes with center post blades, a wire whisk, and dough hooks. While others may advertise these as being stainless, I don't see anything on the box, the manual, or HB's website that makes this claim. They appear to be chrome-plated as others have noted. One of the reasons that I bought this mixer is that I have found that center-post blades provide more intense mixing than wire-type, non-center post blades that are commonly supplied with other brands. I have also seen comments about the blades rusting. Be sure to allow the blades to dry thoroughly before storing them in the case. This should help eliminate this problem.
SNAP-ON STORAGE CASE: Versions of the mixer are sold with and without this feature. Be sure you get it! Great feature. Storing the mixer and all the blades together is a terrific feature. Some reviews have indicated that it was tough to remove the mixer from the case. Again, I'll assume there has been a design change. Our snaps on and off quite easily.
SUMMARY: Thus far, we like everything about this mixer. It is very well thought out. The case as mentioned is very convenient. Blades eject easily. The bowl rest feature is a great idea as well. With a 275 watt motor, this is a sufficiently powerful mixer. Keep in mind however, that the gears typically found in a hand mixer are not indestructible. So figure that if you must use this mixer for industrial purposes, you will be buying another relatively soon. Use it for what I would consider more appropriate applications such as cake mixing, whipping potatoes, etc. and the mixer should last a long time.

Bowl rest mixer stabilizer. Deluxe wrap and snap cord. With a 225-watt motor for accomplishing tough jobs, this compact hand mixer provides power and versatility. Includes traditional beaters and whisk for whipping cream and beating egg whites come with the mixer, and six speeds are available by pushing a button atop the handle with your thumb. In addition, just below the speed control, there is another thumb-activated button, which Hamilton Beach calls the QuickBurst. This button provides an extra charge, available at any speed, for powering through tough tasks. Other attributes include a rest so the mixer can hang on a bowl's edge instead of messing up the counter with dripping beaters or whisk, a flat platform on the mixer's end so it stands up for compact storage, a tangle-free cord, and dishwasher-safe beaters and whisk. --Fred Brack
