This blender actually does what it says it will do. It chrushes ice. We had an old oster blender which was fine for most jobs,but lousy at chopping ice. We tried a "Bullet,which was ok, but did not completely chop the ice up fine, as you would like in a smoothie. I almost purchased the Ninja at a price of one hundred & fifty dollars, when I spotted this at a third of the price, so I gave it a try. It works great.Completely shreds the ice in to snow.You do need to add liquid in order to achieve the best results, but I think this is true of almost all blenders.Very agressive blades, & a wide bottom seem to be the secret. the only negative thing I can say about it is that the lid is almost "too" tight. my wife has a bit of a struggle getting it off. Overall, I would have to say that this is a very good blender at a very reasonable price. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good blender who doesn't want to spend a fortune.
