Customer Review: Perfect Complement to Bodum French Press

The Hamilton Beach Electric Kettle 80898 perfectly complements my 8 Cup Bodum French Press. I slightly overfill the French press with water, then pour it into the kettle. While the kettle is heating the 8+ cups of water to a boil (about 4 minutes), I go ahead and grind my coffee and pour that into my French Press. The kettle makes some noise but I dont find it annoying, even in the early morning, and after all it is boiling water. The kettle's lid must be rotated shut to heat but that is a safety item. I also put some oatmeal into a bowl. By that time the kettle is done, and the water temperature will be about 212 deg F (I've measured). I wait about another minute till it drops to 205 deg F (the do not exceed temperature for coffee), and then pour the hot water into the French Press. I go ahead and pour the rest of the water (remember I overfilled the kettle by about 1/2 cup) into the bowl of oatmeal. I wait.....the recommended 4 minutes pass while the coffee becomes coffee. I then drink coffee, and eat my morning oatmeal. Any excess water I pour out. It's faster than a microwave to heat water (takes about 1/2 time).
About the only negative is that the electric base seems kindof lightweight, it appears to be made entirely of plastic, possibly both a safety and cost feature. Otherwise the kettle itself seems made of good quality, with all-stainless steel in contact with the water, and with no seams so wont leak. During all the above process, the kettle itself does become warm, but not particularly hot unless you goof and open the lid and let all the hot steam burn your hand, but you will only do that once.
