I received this 5 quart Hamilton Beach Set N Forget Slow cooker (white) a week and a half ago
and I am Very pleased with it's performance and it looks great on the counter!
The first thing I made was a Pot roast with Vegetables overnight, and could smell that plastic-y,
electric smell (that was described in another customer review) more than the roast as it cooked.
But I haven't smelled that since then, and the roast was 'melt in your mouth' Delicious!
Since then, I've made BBQ'd spare ribs and the chicken I made today[with onions and Cr. of Mushroom soup], and am pleased with the way they both turned out.
I guess it will take some experience with different recipes to be able to make a good guess as to whether to cook certain meats and chicken for the 8 hours or 10 hours that various recipes recommend.
(Sometimes it may be done in less than 8 hrs, using the temperature probe selection).
3 months Later:
I am STILL very happy with this Crockpot and recommend it highly!
Everything that I have cooked (so far) in this crockpot was DIVINE! I'm glad I bought it!
It's easy to clean. Any food left on comes off after a short soaking. Be sure the temperature of the water is close to the temperature of the ceramic liner. (Add warm/hot soapy water if it's still warm/hot~NOT COLD Water!)
