Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Hamilton Beach 31199R Countertop 1.1-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven with Optional Rotisserie

Customer Review: Large but slower cooking than T-Fal Avante
Summary: 3 Stars

This oven is quite spacious. However, when I broiled a dish that I make regularly it took 25% longer than the broiler on my old T-Fal Avante elite. I miss the digital controls and toast settings on my T-Fal and lacking on the Hamilton Beach but hopefully this oven will last longer (my T-Fal died after 18 months).

Customer Review: LOVE THIS!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this handy little oven. I used it all this summer instead of my gas oven. It heats up more quickly and does a really good job. In fact, I bake so much I was looking for a second oven or to switch to a double-oven combination and after finding this, I'm no longer looking for a second oven. I had another brand for several years, which was a lot smaller and not as useful as this one. One kind of bad thing, the glass door seems to have a gap in it along the top. It seems like it should have some type of a seal. I suspect that's why it gets so hot around it.

Customer Review: very pleased with product
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchased this counter oven over a year ago and it is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. The oven is easy to clean and operate. It cooks very well, although the rotisserie is a bit small for a standard chicken, and it is a bit of a hastle to get the chicken wrapped well enough so that it does not "drag" in the small space. We have made just about everything in this oven, it crisps well for french fries and chicken tenders, it bakes and the convection portion is great for a fast cook. The only draw back which is mentioned in other reviews is the oven gets very hot on the outside while cooking and could easily burn you or a child if touched. We love this oven, and have not had a lick of problems with it. My teenage son uses it every day after school to heat up his snack and it performs very well. Cheers! Kim

Customer Review: Excellent Countertop Oven
Summary: 5 Stars

Before I purchased this product, I searched the internet for all the information I could find on toaster ovens. My home is an all electric house. I needed something that did not use as much electricity as a regular oven, because I do a lot of baking. The only experience I had with this type of oven was years ago. Needless to say it wasn't a very good experience. So I was very skeptic if it would meet my needs. Boy, was I ever surprised! It does an excellent job! I really enjoy the convection part of the oven, because it doesn't require as high of temperature and takes less time to do the job. Pies, cookies, cakes, pizza, muffins, biscuits, and casseroles have graced our table this summer because of this oven. I wouldn't trade it for anything. There hasn't been anything that I have baked that didn't work in this oven.

Customer Review: oven great but convection temperature must be adjusted
Summary: 4 Stars

Hamilton beach 31199R countertop oven. Love the oven...Now that I have, thanks to another reviewer, discovered that the oven runs about 50F over the setting on convection, it works great. I simply set the oven for 300F when I want 350F...very easy fix.
